You wake up at 3 AM, but your brain won’t slow down.
Bookkeeping worries start churning through your head.
Did I forget to categorize an expense?
Why do I feel bad about paying myself?
And underneath those questions is a bigger one many women don’t say out loud:
“How can my business provide the stability my family needs?”
If you’ve had that thought, you’re not alone.
I hear it when I talk with women solopreneurs who are juggling a lot — running their business, supporting their clients, taking care of their families, and trying to keep up with their books at the end of a long day.
Many started their businesses because they’re excellent at what they do. They’re therapists, consultants, designers, coaches, and other service-based professionals who genuinely care about helping their clients.
But bookkeeping is one more task waiting on the to-do list.
That’s where I step in.

Rooted Accounting & CFO Solutions provides bookkeeping services for women solopreneurs and service-based businesses in West Linn, Lake Oswego, Tualatin, and nearby Portland communities.
I’m a CPA and accountant who specializes in helping business owners bring clarity to their numbers and feel financially rooted and confident about their business’s direction.
You might be looking for a bookkeeper because:
- You avoid looking at the numbers because they feel confusing
- Cash flow feels unpredictable
- You’re worried you may have missed something important
- You know the financial side of the business needs attention, but you’re not sure where to start
Over the years, I’ve helped many local service businesses organize their books, understand their numbers, and feel confident about the financial side of their business.
Earlier in my career, I also held corporate accounting and finance roles at companies such as Nike and Disney – experience that shaped the practical, organized approach I bring to my bookkeeping clients today.
Why bookkeeping can feel overwhelming
When I first talk with a new client, they often start with an apology.
“I’m so sorry… I know my books are probably a mess.”
I hear this all the time — and the good news is, it’s usually much easier to fix than people think.
Most business owners were never taught how to manage the financial systems behind their business. When you’re busy serving clients and running everything else, bookkeeping naturally gets pushed down the list.
For many women solopreneurs, that uncertainty carries more weight than they realize.
Because when the numbers don’t make sense, it’s hard to know if the business you’re building is actually sustainable.

The responsibility women solopreneurs carry
For many of my clients, their business isn’t just something they enjoy doing.
It’s part of supporting their household and building long-term stability.
Their income may help cover family expenses, healthcare, mortgages, or retirement. When the financial side of the business feels unclear, it creates more stress than people expect.
Solopreneurs often make sure vendors and contractors get paid, and subscriptions stay current — while their own paycheck quietly gets pushed further down the list.
Helping women solopreneurs build businesses that truly sustain them financially is one of the most meaningful parts of my work.
Bookkeeping help for solopreneurs in West Linn, Lake Oswego, and Tualatin

Accurate books matter. But what most business owners really want is someone they trust who can help them understand what their numbers are telling them.
Sometimes that means getting everything organized and up to date. Other times, it means helping you make sense of your financial reports and what they say about the health of your business.
Some clients want ongoing monthly bookkeeping. Others just need guidance, cleanup, or help organizing their systems.
My goal is to help you feel financially rooted and confident, so the financial side of your business becomes something you can rely on — not something that keeps creating stress.
Clarity and peace of mind
Many of my clients say the biggest change isn’t just cleaner books.
It’s the relief that comes from knowing an experienced CPA is helping keep the financial side of their business organized and on track.
Instead of wondering whether something important was missed, they have the peace of mind that I’m giving their books the care and attention they need – making it easier for them to focus on the work they love.
If the financial side of your business has been creating stress, let’s talk about what kind of support would actually help.
You don’t need to have everything figured out before reaching out — we’ll sort through it together.
What this support has looked like for other solopreneurs

Ready to feel financially rooted?
If your books have been creating stress or uncertainty, let’s start with a conversation.
Bookkeeping Services for Solopreneurs FAQs: Working with Rooted Accounting
Rooted Accounting provides bookkeeping, QuickBooks Online cleanup, and financial organization for solopreneurs seeking clarity around the numbers behind their business.
Many women reach out when their books feel confusing, behind, or harder to manage alongside client work. These FAQs explain how to engage Rooted Accounting’s bookkeeping services, what to expect from bookkeeping support, and how the process brings clarity to your finances.
What types of businesses does Rooted Accounting work with?
Most of my clients are service-based, women-owned businesses.
They spend most of their time serving clients and want their financial records organized so they can focus on running the work they love.
What if I’m not sure what kind of bookkeeping help I need yet?
That’s completely normal.
Often, the first step is simply understanding where the books stand today. From there, it becomes much easier to decide whether cleanup, ongoing bookkeeping, or occasional support would be most helpful.
How do solopreneurs usually start bookkeeping services?
Most people begin with an initial assessment of their books.
This assessment helps identify how things are organized and whether any cleanup or catch-up work is needed. If the books already look good, it’s often possible to move directly into ongoing monthly bookkeeping. If not, the assessment helps identify what needs to be addressed first.
My books aren’t up to date. Can you still help with bookkeeping cleanup?
Yes, this is very common.
Many solopreneurs reach out when their books feel behind, confusing, or overwhelming. First, I’d review your books and identify what needs attention. Once the books are organized and accurate, it’s easier to keep them that way moving forward.
How much do you charge?
The standard hourly rate is $100. Some women appreciate monthly support, while others choose quarterly support.
Many solopreneurs appreciate starting with an hourly rate because it offers flexibility and a clear cost structure. After reviewing your books and talking through your situation, I can usually estimate how much time may be needed.
Do you meet virtually or in person?
Both options are available to you.
Many clients prefer to meet virtually, which makes scheduling easy. For local clients, meetings can also happen in person in the Portland metro area, including West Linn, Lake Oswego, and nearby communities.
I’ve been managing my own bookkeeping. When should I get help?
Many solopreneurs manage their own books when they first start their business.
Over time, bookkeeping can become harder to keep up with while serving clients and running everything else. That’s often when people decide they’d like help keeping their books organized and up to date.
Can you help if I already use QuickBooks Online?
Yes. Sometimes the account only needs a few adjustments. In other cases, the books need to be cleaned up and organized so the reports accurately reflect what’s happening in the business.
Do you work with accounting software other than QuickBooks?
Most of my clients use QuickBooks Online, and it’s the platform I use for my bookkeeping work.
I typically don’t work in other accounting systems such as Xero, FreshBooks, or Zoho Books, and I also don’t support QuickBooks Desktop. If you’re currently using another system, we can talk about whether transitioning to QuickBooks Online would make sense for your business.
Do you handle tax preparation?
While I don’t provide tax preparation services, clean bookkeeping makes tax season much easier. I work closely with CPAs and other tax professionals to make sure your records are accurate and organized, so year-end reporting and tax filings go smoothly.
What’s the goal of working together?
For most solopreneurs, the goal is financial clarity.
When the books are organized and accurate, it becomes much easier to understand what’s happening financially in the business and make decisions with confidence.
How do I get started?
It starts with a free, no-obligation conversation.
