Running a business often comes with a quiet financial pressure that sits in the background.
Many of the women I work with are balancing client work, day-to-day operations, growth decisions, and family responsibilities.
Over time, the financial side of the business can become another source of stress — and something they feel they should understand but don’t fully feel confident about.
That uncertainty doesn’t just stay in QuickBooks — it follows you into everyday decisions about your business, your income, and your future.
That’s what led me to start Rooted Accounting.
Through customized bookkeeping support, QuickBooks Online cleanup, and monthly financial reporting, I help women build a grounded financial foundation so they can understand how their businesses are performing – and plan for what comes next.
From Corporate Finance to Entrepreneurship

Before starting Rooted Accounting, I worked in accounting and finance roles with companies like Nike and Disney.
In those environments, hiring, investment, and growth decisions were grounded in accurate reporting.
I saw how much clearer those decisions become when the numbers are reliable and understood.
That experience shaped how I think about financial information — not just as reports, but as something that should support confident decision-making.
But my perspective deepened even more when I became a business owner myself.
What Running My Own Etsy Business Taught Me
Before launching my accounting firm, I started an Etsy business called Polka Dot Pups Boutique, where I design and sell colorful dog bandanas.
What began as a creative project quickly became a successful small business. Along the way, I faced the same kinds of decisions entrepreneurs make every day — pricing products sustainably, managing margins, tracking expenses, and ensuring the numbers supported the business I was building.
Even with my accounting background and CPA training, I still found myself asking many of the same questions other women business owners ask:
Am I pricing correctly?
Are my margins strong enough?
Is the business actually profitable?

And underneath those questions was a quieter one:
Am I actually doing this right?
That experience gave me a deeper understanding of how much responsibility entrepreneurs carry — especially when your business is tied to your personal income and financial stability.
Over time, I improved the financial systems behind my own shop and saw how much clarity that created. When the numbers were organized and accurate, it became far easier to understand what was working and how the business could grow sustainably.
That shift — from guessing to knowing — is what I now help my clients experience in their own businesses.
That experience ultimately inspired me to start Rooted Accounting here in Tualatin, where I now work with women-owned businesses across the Portland metro area.
My Approach to Bookkeeping
Although I am a Certified Public Accountant (CPA), my background has always been in accounting and finance rather than tax preparation.
When your books are accurate, they become your foundation for clear reporting and better decision-making. Clean books make it easier to understand cash flow, evaluate profitability, and plan for future growth.
Just as importantly, it removes the constant second-guessing that comes from not fully trusting your numbers.
I also believe there is real value in separating bookkeeping and tax preparation roles. Tax professionals focus on compliance and minimizing tax liability, while my role is to ensure the financial records behind those decisions remain accurate and organized throughout the year.
My goal is not just to keep your books accurate — but to help you understand what the numbers are telling you so that you can make decisions with confidence.
